HEINEKEN Hrvatska is a part of HEINEKEN company, the most international brewer which operates in more than 70 countries and has more than 80,000 employees. In 2003, Karlovačka pivovara became a part of this large family and continued its long tradition of beer production dating back to 1854.

For us, safety comes first. We constantly invest in improving safety standards and raising employees’ awareness on safety issues. Beside following legal regulations, we also adhere to strict health and safety procedures reflective of HEINEKEN’s high standards. Our employees regularly participate in health and safety trainings. The company provides them with protective equipment, organizes safe driving trainings and offers various safety modules through HEINEKEN e-learning academy.
Another important topic for our company is responsible use of alcohol. We actively promote zero tolerance for alcohol consumption during working hours through education of employees and occasional alcohol tests, with aim to preserve health and safety at work.
We regularly conduct climate survey amongst our employees and ask them for suggestions in order to improve our processes.
HEINEKEN Hrvatska collective agreement transparently defines employees’ rights, benefits and obligations. Some of the benefits our employees have are: holiday bonus, Christmas bonus, Easter gift, jubilee award, present for children, reimbursement for meal, subsidies for transport and general medical exam.
In order to achieve work-life balance, we introduced flexible working hours for our employees. We also encourage them to lead healthy lifestyle and participate in sports and volunteer activities.
Our employees have the opportunity to learn and develop themselves by participating in multidisciplinary teams and projects. We organize educations and trainings that develop employees’ competencies in different fields (functional, leadership, soft skills, etc). Every year, the education plan is being developed according to departmental priorities and educational needs defined in the Personal Development Plans.
We support new employees and trainees with special onboarding or induction program. We try to give them a good start and onboard them as quickly as possible, in order to help them succeed and achieve their professional ambitions.
All employees are involved in transparent and fair performance appraisal system. The performance management system is linked to the business strategy, education and rewarding. Salary increases are systematically carried out, based on annual performance ratings and market salary comparisons. All employees are included in the variable rewarding system through monthly/quarterly incentives or annual bonuses.

In our brewery site in Karlovac, we have built a warehouse according to green construction principles, enabling a reduction of environmental impact in all phases of construction and use of the building.
We also installed solar panels on the roof of our green warehouse. Electricity which will be produced by 1,380 solar panels will reduce annual CO₂ emissions for 118.5 tons on a yearly basis.
We also started to use electric forklifts which will further reduce our environmental impact.
Our high quality products are suited for different occasions and will satisfy needs of our adult consumers.
Our rich and diverse portfolio includes Karlovačko lager beer, Karlovačko Natur Radler limun, Karlovačko Natur Radler grejp menta, Karlovačko Retro nepasterizirano, Karlovačko 0.0., Karlovačko crno and Karlovačko crna višnja. There are also international brands such as Heineken, Heineken 0.0, Amstel Premium Pilsener, Desperados, Affligem, Mort Subite, Edelweiss, Czech lager Krušovice, Slovenian lager Laško, Strongbow cider and local cider Stari Lisac.
We are especially proud of the fact that our Natur Radlers are made of 100% natural ingredients; they do not contain preservatives, artificial colors or sweeteners. Furthermore, for our Karlovačko beer we use malt made of 100% Croatian barley.
